What it's like
Sturmer Pippin was the backbone of the Tasmanian export trade for the better part of a century, and it's still the best keeping apple you can grow. Straight off the tree it's sharp and dense — leave it in a cool dark place for two months and it develops a deep, nutty, almost pear-like flavour. Needs a long cool season, which is precisely what we've got.
Getting it established
Needs a pollinator — plant with a Cox's or a Granny Smith within 30 m.
Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
You've got twelve months. If it was planted the way we suggested and it hasn't come away, send us a photo and we'll replace it on the next run.
Ten or more of one line gets trade pricing without an account. Tell us the site and we'll check the spacing with you before you order.
