What it's like
Most cherries need a partner. Stella doesn't — it sets a full crop on its own, which makes it the obvious choice for a single-tree backyard. The fruit is large, near-black and properly sweet, ripening just in time for Christmas. On Colt rootstock it stays around four metres. Net it, or the blackbirds will beat you to it by about a day.
Getting it established
Net from early December. Don't prune in winter — do it in summer to avoid disease.
Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
You've got twelve months. If it was planted the way we suggested and it hasn't come away, send us a photo and we'll replace it on the next run.
Ten or more of one line gets trade pricing without an account. Tell us the site and we'll check the spacing with you before you order.
