One of the best native groundcovers going — a dense, flat, bright green mat that spreads quickly and roots as it goes, so it holds soil on a slope and leaves no room for weeds. Covered in small white star flowers through summer, and the bees are on it constantly. Handles heat, drought and light foot traffic.
Plant at 1 m spacing for full cover in two seasons. Shear back if it gets woody.
Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
