What it's like
Hellebores flower in the depths of winter and then quietly hold good foliage for the rest of the year. Plant them in drifts under deciduous trees — they get winter light while flowering and summer shade while resting, which is exactly what they want. Ours are seed-grown, so the colours vary from cream through dusky plum.
Getting it established
Cut the old leaves off in May so you can actually see the flowers.
Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
You've got twelve months. If it was planted the way we suggested and it hasn't come away, send us a photo and we'll replace it on the next run.
Ten or more of one line gets trade pricing without an account. Tell us the site and we'll check the spacing with you before you order.
