Dichondra makes a dense, low, bright green carpet of small round leaves — a genuine lawn substitute for paths, courtyards and shaded areas where grass sulks. It takes occasional footsteps but not a cricket match. Plant it between pavers or across a small shaded area and let it knit together.
Keep moist while it joins up. Once established it needs very little.
Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
