What it's like
Blackwood is the workhorse of Tasmanian revegetation — it grows quickly, fixes nitrogen, shelters slower species while they get going, and produces one of the finest cabinet timbers in the world. Plant it as part of a mix rather than on its own. Happy in wet gullies and on dry slopes alike.
Getting it established
Plant into a mixed shelter belt at 2–3 m spacing. Guards recommended if you have browsers.
Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
You've got twelve months. If it was planted the way we suggested and it hasn't come away, send us a photo and we'll replace it on the next run.
Ten or more of one line gets trade pricing without an account. Tell us the site and we'll check the spacing with you before you order.
