Good for
What it's like
If you plant one native for wildlife, make it this. Silver Banksia flowers in the cold months when very little else is producing nectar, and it will bring wattlebirds and New Holland honeyeaters into a garden within a season or two. It's naturally variable — some forms are low and shrubby, some make a small gnarled tree. Sandy, gravelly, hopeless soil is ideal.
Getting it established
Do not fertilise with phosphorus. It genuinely prefers to be left hungry.
Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
You've got twelve months. If it was planted the way we suggested and it hasn't come away, send us a photo and we'll replace it on the next run.
Ten or more of one line gets trade pricing without an account. Tell us the site and we'll check the spacing with you before you order.
