Good for
What it's like
Osakazuki has been grown for a few hundred years for one reason: the October colour is a clean scarlet rather than the muddy red you get from seedling maples. The habit is broad and tiered, so it reads as a small sculpture even bare. Give it shelter from hot afternoon sun and the leaves won't crisp at the edges.
Getting it established
Cool root run. Mulch it well and never let it dry out in its first three summers.
Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
You've got twelve months. If it was planted the way we suggested and it hasn't come away, send us a photo and we'll replace it on the next run.
Ten or more of one line gets trade pricing without an account. Tell us the site and we'll check the spacing with you before you order.
