What it's like
Box is the plant you use to draw lines in a garden. It's slow — that's why it stays neat — and a well-grown box hedge will outlive you. Best kept under a metre; above that there are faster options. Full sun gives the tightest growth, but it's one of very few things that will hold a formal shape in real shade.
Getting it established
Plant at 25–30 cm for a solid low hedge. One clip in December is usually enough.
Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
You've got twelve months. If it was planted the way we suggested and it hasn't come away, send us a photo and we'll replace it on the next run.
Ten or more of one line gets trade pricing without an account. Tell us the site and we'll check the spacing with you before you order.
