What it's like
Blechnum is the fern you see lining wet gullies right across Tasmania — bright green fronds in a neat shuttlecock, gradually building a short trunk. It's the easiest native fern to establish in a garden as long as the spot stays damp. Beautiful massed along a shaded fence line or under tree ferns.
Getting it established
Constant moisture and no direct afternoon sun. Happiest beside a downpipe or a pond.
Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
You've got twelve months. If it was planted the way we suggested and it hasn't come away, send us a photo and we'll replace it on the next run.
Ten or more of one line gets trade pricing without an account. Tell us the site and we'll check the spacing with you before you order.
