What it's like

Ginkgo has been around for 200 million years and it shows — the fan-shaped leaves look like nothing else. Autumn Gold is a selected male clone, which matters, because female trees drop a fruit that smells genuinely awful. It's slow for the first few years and then puts on real pace. Utterly untroubled by pests, pollution or bad soil.

Getting it established

Slow to start. Stake for two years and be patient — year five is when it takes off.

Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.

You've got twelve months. If it was planted the way we suggested and it hasn't come away, send us a photo and we'll replace it on the next run.

Ten or more of one line gets trade pricing without an account. Tell us the site and we'll check the spacing with you before you order.
