Screening Colour

What it's like

Red Robin is popular for a reason: it's fast, inexpensive, easy, and each time you clip it the regrowth comes back scarlet for a few weeks. Two cuts a year will keep it dense and give you two flushes of colour. It'll take most soils and most positions as long as it's not waterlogged.

Getting it established

Clip after each red flush fades. Feed in spring for a stronger colour response.

Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
