What it's like
A quince tree asks for nothing. It's small, gnarled, tolerant of wet ground, and produces huge fragrant fruit that turn a deep rose-red when you cook them. Smyrna is the largest-fruited variety we grow — a single quince will fill your hand. Pale pink blossom in October, and it's self-fertile.
Getting it established
Tolerates heavier, wetter soil than most fruit trees. Pick in May when the fuzz rubs off.
Potted stock travels upright in a purpose-built carton with the rootball wrapped. Bare-root trees are lifted the week they ship, roots packed in damp shavings. Either way, get it in the ground within a week of arrival.
You've got twelve months. If it was planted the way we suggested and it hasn't come away, send us a photo and we'll replace it on the next run.
Ten or more of one line gets trade pricing without an account. Tell us the site and we'll check the spacing with you before you order.
